The Broadstone First School uniform is compulsory for all children. We believe a uniform looks smart, wears well and contributes to a feeling of belonging to the school. The sweatshirts or cardigans are available from the school office, and worn with a red polo shirt. White shirts, WITH school tie, are also permissible. These are to be worn with grey trousers, shorts, pinafore or skirt. Choice of sensible footwear is especially important. Our school is a busy, active place and the children do have to be able to move quickly and safely about the building. No high heels, open toed or strappy sandals please!
The PE uniform is black shorts or leggings with a red t-shirt. We would ask that in winter, parents send a warm tracksuit for the children to wear so that PE can continue outside, even in the cooler months.
Children should not bring money to school except when specifically requested to do so.
We value the fact that our curriculum means children will get messy! In our day to day learning the children will sometimes use paint and glue or perhaps work outside in the garden areas. Aprons etc. will be provided but please do not send your children to school in expensive or elaborate clothes.
We consider make-up and nail varnish to be inappropriate for primary-aged children.
For the safety of all children jewellery is not allowed in the school. Necklaces, rings, chains and bracelets can be dangerous for your child in certain lessons and these are not allowed except where there are religious or cultural reasons for them. Watches are allowed and ear studs only in pierced ears. If worn, these remain the sole responsibility of your child. The school cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage. Please consider your child's safety.
The governors consider adherence to these recommendations of great importance and are grateful to parents for the effort made to ensure that their children wear their uniform with pride.
