The Governing Body

Most grown-ups can no doubt remember their favourite teachers, their best classroom, the trips they loved, the subjects they most enjoyed, and the (often life-long) friendships they developed.

To be involved as a Governor of a school is one of the most rewarding ways in which we can repay (indeed re-live) these memories and 'give back' to the education system that nurtured us.

When you have such a potent mix of incredibly supportive parents, excellent teachers, a lovely environment and, of course, that most special ingredient of young lives bubbling with boundless energy, education can and does become pure alchemy. As Governors of BFS,we are privileged to bear witness to the golden magic our parents, teachers and children continuously work.

Ourmain roles are:

- To provide a strategic view – helping to decide the school’s strategy for improvement so that

our pupils learn most effectively and achieve the highest standards

- To act as a reflective friend – providing the Lead Learner and staff with support, advice and

information

- To ensure accountability – being responsible for good quality education and enabling the Lead

Learner and staff to report on the school’s performance regularly
