We Are Learning To:

Wow! What a term! We have reached the end of our amazing topic, which we have thoroughly enjoyed. We hope to see as many of you as possible for our outcome, our ‘Christmas Party’ on Thursday 14th December at 2pm. We shall be having lots of fun Christmas crafts and Christmas music playing to get us in the festive mood! There will also be an opportunity for you to sit down with your child to look through their Learning Journals to chat about everything they have learnt this term.

We have completed Set 1 of our Read Write Inc. sounds and are becoming confident at reading and writing these sounds and first lot of red words.

After the Christmas holidays, we shall be starting a new topic ‘Once Upon A Time…’ – please look out for the Medium Term Plan which will give you more details about this. We will also be starting to learn Set 2 sounds. Please help your child learn these by looking through the sounds with them when we send home the phonics sheet on Fridays. Many thanks.
Things to remember:
We will be sending home one reading book for your child over the holidays. If you feel your child needs more to read, then please use their favourite books at home to spot the sounds we have been learning.  We would really like your child to enjoy the Christmas holidays – if you could, please complete the ‘My Christmas Holidays’ sheet so we can use this as evidence towards ‘Understanding of the World’.

We are sending home P.E. kits to be washed. Please could you check the contents and ensure items belong to your child and are labelled clearly. Any items that may have accidentally ended up in your child’s bag, please could you bring back into school so we can return them to the rightful owner!
Finally, we are sad to say goodbye to Mrs. Dent of Buttercups Class, but happy to welcome back Mrs. Julia Stone, who will be returning to Broadstone First School. She will be the new class teacher
(Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) along with Mrs. Bartholomew from Bluebells (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).
If you have any further queries or questions, please feel free to chat to your class teacher(s) at drop off or at the end of the day. Additionally, the office staff are very helpful if your query is general.

Many thanks,

The Reception Team
