IN THE COMING WEEKS Year 4 are very excited to be starting our new topic which is the ‘Ballad of Mulan’. We are excited to get stuck into our new topic.
Focus for English:Our focus for English will be poetry writing. Year 4 will be going outside and using their senses and their bank of descriptive language to write a poem that describes the outside area.
OUTCOME: Year 4 parents will be invited to a poetry celebration evening on Wednesday 7th February at 6pm where the children will share their poems and accompanying artwork through performance and display.
HOW YOU CAN HELP AT HOME: Find a poem that interests them about a hero or heroine. Prepare a creative presentation to introduce the class to this text (read, write, use ICT, illustrate) .
Maths: In Maths this week, we are focusing on perimeter and working out how we can find the perimeter and problem solving.
Miss Mackin and Mrs Cran have a challenge for you to do at home. Using your knowledge of perimeter, work out how much skirting board would you need around your kitchen? We are also continuously working on our times tables, so please could you help with this at home as well.
Thank you for all your support as always and a Happy New Year!
Jen Cran & Kayleigh Mackin
