Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed the half term holiday. We are looking forward to hearing what the children have been up to – if there is anything your child has done to impress you during the time off, please write it up and send it in on a Wow-berry so we can celebrate their efforts and achievements!

We look forward to seeing you again at Parent Consultations on Wednesday 1st November.

We Are Learning To:
This term our new topic is ‘Let’s Celebrate’, where we will learn about celebrations around the world in the lead up to Christmas. We will kick start our topic with a ‘hook’, where we will all spend the first day back celebrating the Hindu festival of light called ‘Diwali’. We will make salt dough diva lamps, decorate hands ‘Mehndi’, draw rangoli patterns and design lanterns. At the end of our topic, we will show what we have learnt with an ‘Outcome’. Please continue to read our blog for more information on this nearer the time as parents are invited to this.

If over the next few weeks, your child will be celebrating a special occasion with their family and friends, we would be very grateful for some information on this so we can use it as evidence towards your child’s profile.

Things to remember:
Please ensure that if you hear your child read their school book, that you indicate this in the reading record either with a signature or a short comment. The children should bring their school book and their reading journal in their book bag with them every day so we can also hear them read.
Please ensure all of your child’s belongings are labelled clearly!
As the weather is being very unpredictable, please ensure your child has a coat with them every day – we will be going outside to our Busy Bee area daily, as well as out to playtime and after lunch.
Finally, we are always very grateful for any adults who are able to help out in our classes. If you have a spare hour during the week and would like to assist in one of our two classes, then please let us know. (It might be that you are placed in the other class, but we would be super grateful for any extra help!)

If you have any further queries or questions, please feel free to chat to your class teacher at drop off or at the end of the day. Additionally, the office staff are very helpful if your query is general.

Many thanks,

The Reception Team
