Focus of Learning: We are embarking on our first Learning Journey this week, exploring the different festivals of light and other current celebrations that are commemorated in our community. Over the next two weeks, we will be discovering Diwali, Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day. This will include a trip up to the War Memorial at Broadstone Rec to place our wreaths.
Focus for Literacy: The children will be thinking about adjectives and how to describe Bonfire Night using their senses, what they see, hear, smell and taste.
Focus for Mathematical Development:The children will be looking at patterns and decorations that we use for special celebrations, including making Rangoli patterns.
Focus for character development:Our next characteristic is Responsibility. This ties in perfectly with our current Learning Journey all about celebrations. We will be looking at how different cultures and beliefs celebrate light at this time of the year and making sure we are respectful of each other.
How you can help at home this fortnight:Talk to your child about different celebrations you share as a family. Talk about the five senses and how these can help us work out the world around us. Encourage your child to recognise and begin to write their name and simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words (eg. cat, pot, sit).
Anything else happening this fortnight:If you are free and have been DBS checked/been through volunteer check here, on the morning of 11th November, we need some parent helpers to walk us up to the War Memorial.
Thank you for your continued support.
