We can't believe we are about to start our final topic! This year has gone so fast and we are already getting a bit teary eyed thinking about them moving on and up to Year 4. Our last topic was extended slightly as we were fully engrossed in our topic thanks to Miss Fisher our school direct trainee teacher. She has a real passion for the subject of Heathland Heroes and it would have been a crime not to carry on and take full advantage of her expertise in this field. Miss Fisher will sadly be leaving Broadstone First School on Wednesday 27th June as she comes to the end of her training her at Broadstone First School. Alice has been an absolute pleasure to train and she has built such wonderful relationships and memories with your children. We are so proud of Alice as she starts her teaching career at Godolphin School, an independent boarding school for girls in Salisbury. The school educates some 430 girls between the ages of eleven and eighteen and we know that Alice will be perfect for the role as a Year 3 teacher there.
Sports Day - 26th June from 9.40am at Middle School
This will be the same format as last year as we received so much positive feedback. Teachers and teaching assistants will take their own classes around each of the ten activities and keep a tally of the points scored for garden groups. There will then be an assembly in the afternoon for learners to collect certificates and the winning garden team will be announced along with the winners of the competitive races. Once again we have a parents v teachers tug of war so feel free to join in! In addition we have a polite request that you do not offer your child snacks or treats as we go around the track. Their teachers will arrange for them to bring their healthy snack with them and we will have a normal lunch time so there is no need for learners to be have additional treats or snacks. Please consider the families that cannot be with their children on the day. Please do not buy learners food or drink from the PTA stall as this is purely for adults and not for learners. It is the same rules on sports day as any other day. Thank you in advance for co-operating with us.
We are hoping to go head to head against the Year 4 learners in a competitive spelling bee in teams. There are a few details we need to iron out but we will provide more details next week. In the meantime, please practise the Year 3 and 4 national curriculum spellings to give us a head start!
Choose a spelling rule then choose to either practise the spelling or take a test with those words. All words are read aloud (make sure your sound is turned up) and provided within a sentence for context.
Thank you, Year 3 Team.
