19th september 2016

Focus for Personal, Social and Emotional Development:
We will be learning to be part of our new family in Buttercups and Bluebells classes and practising how to manage our feelings and our behaviour. We will be making new friends and becoming more confident in our surroundings.

Focus for Literacy:
We will be focusing on recognising our names and other important words around the classroom (e.g. days of the week, months of the year, labels of where things are kept).

Focus for Mathematical Development:
We will be learning to recite numbers from 0-10, 0-20 and 0-30 and starting to notice patterns in numbers, such as the date changing by one each day.

Focus for character development:
We will be encouraging your child to demonstrate pride in their indoor and outdoor classrooms, making sure they are tidying away what they have been playing with and making our learning beautiful. We will be talking about what it means to be proud and how we can take pride in ourselves and our environment.

How you can help at home this fortnight:
Encourage your child to retell you a story of their day - what they did in Discovery Time, what snack they had, what they had for lunch and who they played with. Find out who they have been playing with and organise your first play dates!

Anything else happening this fortnight:
Please could you bring in a photo of your family (those who live in your house) so we can display them in the classroom? Could you also bring in a pair of wellies for your child to avoid their school shoes getting muddy and sandy when they’re in our Busy Bees area?
