It was great to see you so many of you at parent consultations. Lots of you had the same questions regarding spellings and times tables. We always put links on our MTP (Medium Term Plan) and on the blog but if you have asked for more specific direction please look in book bags over the coming weeks.
We are hoping to spend Thursday afternoon enjoying a picnic and sharing some Famous Five stories. The adults will also be putting on their own mystery on the heath for the learners to solve as they get into character. It would be great of learners could come to school dressed as a character from the Famous Five for the day. (Quick tip - it is quite likely they will need a similar outfit in year 4 as there is usually a world war 1 topic early on.)
Our focus in English this week will be to get stuck into "Lashings Of Ginger Beer" as we start our new topic about the Famous Five by Enid Blyton. This a big writing focus and learners will be stretched in the writing ability as well as the presentation of their work. If you have time to share these classic stories at bedtime or over the weeks to come, it would really help.
Our focus in Maths continues to be the relationship between multiplication and division as we start a series of lessons on fractions.
At Broadstone First School we are all really excited to be taking part in Sport Relief which will be taking place in schools from Monday 19th March to Friday 23rd March. We will be running the Daily Mile again and hope to clock as many miles up as possible. On Friday 23rd March, all learners are invited to come into school wearing sporty outfits with a suggested donation of £1 for Sport Relief.
Our very own Miss Burke and Miss Bartholomew will be running alongside a local head teacher Darryl Walsh, as he takes on 36 miles running to all the local infant, first and junior schools in the local area (there are 32!) Any donations would be greatly appreciated – it’s an amazing charity #pooleschoolsrun #sportsrelief2018 #poolemuddyrunners. If you’d like to sponsor Miss Bartholomew and Miss Burke, please follow the link below, or pop into the school office and fill in the sponsorship form. Your support will really help keep them going!
