14th November 2016

Focus for English: We will be focusing on poetry during this learning journey and writing a ballad in the style of 'The Ballad of Mulan'. We have looked at the qualities of heroes and heroines and will be incorporating this into our writing.

Focus for Maths: We will be continuing to learn strategies to solve word problems. We will be learning about factor pairs and inverse operations and applying these to help us solve calculations.

Focus for character development: Responsibility. During anti-bullying week we are looking at the right to be heard and the respective responsibilities.

How you can help at home this fortnight: The take home task for this learning journey is: find a poem that interests them about a hero or heroine. Prepare a creative presentation to introduce the class to this text. (read, write, use ICT, illustrate). As always, please continue to help your children with their spellings that are tested weekly.

Anything else happening this fortnight: This Friday we will be celebrating Children in Need day by wearing our pyjamas to school and having a jump-a-thon!

We will be meeting in our Garden Groups on Friday to share our learning around anti-bullying.

Parent Consultations will be taking place on Wednesday 30th November. We look forward to sharing your child's progress with you there.

Thankyou,
Miss Cleveland and Mrs Cran
