Year Group: Reception 11th September 2017

Welcome to Broadstone First School Reception! We are very excited to welcome all of our new children to Bluebells and Buttercups class.

For the first three days, Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th September, the children will be in half day, dependant on your child’s birthday.

08:50 – 11:20 session 1 12:25 – 14:55 session 2

Bluebells: Please drop off and collect at the Bluebells door at the back of the classroom.

Buttercups: Please drop off and collect at the Buttercups back gate to the Busy Bee area. A member of staff will be present every day to welcome the children.

From Thursday 14th September, all children will be with us for the whole day! Collection time at the end of the school day is 14:55.

We Are Learning To:

Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on settling in, getting to know each other and making friends. We will also be learning about our new school and environment, and showing our teachers what we can do!

Things to remember:

Please ensure all of your child’s belongings are labelled!

As the weather is being very unpredictable, please ensure your child has a coat with them every day – we will be going outside to our Busy Bee area daily, as well as out to playtime and after lunch.

We keep their P.E. kits in school and send them home at every half term. Please ensure they have a red T-shirt, black shorts / joggers and trainers. You may provide any additional clothing you wish (socks etc). We would be grateful if you could provide a pair of spare underwear and clothing in case of an accident or particularly messy play!

If you have not already signed up for your child to have milk, it is free until their 5th birthday, so it is worthwhile and a healthy addition to snack time! Snack is free for the children but if you know your child may not like certain fruits, please feel free to provide a fruit snack for them in their lunch box / a small bag.

Children will be given a school book bag later in the month, courtesy of the Broadstone PTA. When it is sent home for the first time, this will be the first time they will be sent home a reading book. Please look out for further information on this in the next blog, as we will be holding meetings for parents about reading and phonics in a couple of weeks.

If you have any further queries or questions, please feel free to chat to your class teacher at drop off or at the end of the day. Additionally, the office staff are very helpful if your query is general.

We look forward to having your child join us at Broadstone First School. Please keep an eye on the website and our blog for updates and information.

Many thanks, The Reception Team
