IN THE COMING WEEKS:

We have started our new topic which is called ‘The Water Fight’. This topic focuses on the Geography of the countries Nicaragua and Sweden. Within this topic, we are looking at raising money for Water Aid to help them reach the goal of having fresh water in all countries by 2030.

FOCUS FOR ENGLISH: Our focus for this topic in English is the use of apostrophe. We will be looking at identifying when it is used as a plural or possessive.

OUTCOME: Learners will deliver presentations to members of the local community, to raise awareness of the problems associated with a lack of clean, running water. They will present a cheque to Dorset Water Aid in support of the 2030 campaign. We will be also putting on a fundraiser, where the children have picked an activity that they will offer to other pupils in school to take part in. We are hoping that in total we can raise £1000 and raise awareness of what is happening in other countries.

TAKE HOME TASK: Due Friday 18th May 2018. Keep a water diary. Record how many times your family uses water over the course of a day or a week. (Use tallies). Record the reason – what is the water being used for? (Drinking, washing, toilet flushing etc.). Present the data collected in an interesting way. (Power point. Poster, graph etc).

MATHS: In Maths, our focus is Geometry. This week we are particularly focusing on angles. As we know, angles are all around us in our day to day life! A way in which you could help at home with our Maths learning is by looking around your house and documenting how many right angles you have on your furniture, different rooms and different house hold items. We look forward to hearing the results!

Thank you for all your continued support as always! Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
